US$7,000 Bus Stop Dedicated at Sweaken-Tartuken Junction in River Gee

River Gee County | Sept. 29, 2026 | The Bus Stop was sponsored by Randy Nuch Brickson, an Executive Secretary to River Gee County Senator Francis Saidy Dopoh II, as part of his contribution to community development.

Residents and community members of Sweaken -Tartuken junction in River Gee County have welcomed the dedication of a newly constructed Bus Stop valued at approximately US$7,000, describing the project as a meaningful contribution toward improving transportation and public infrastructure in the area.

This marks a historic milestone for River Gee County, as it is reportedly the first officially constructed bus stop since the county was established on March 16, 2000.

The newly completed facility is intended to provide a safer, more organized and convenient space for passengers, commuters, commercial drivers and other travelers who regularly use the busy Sweaken to Tartuken junction.

During the dedication ceremony, Thompson Woods, Station Manager of Gbeapo Radio in Kanweaken and an associate of the project sponsor, officially turned over the facility to residents and community leaders on behalf of Randy Nuch Brickson.

Woods encouraged community members to take ownership of the facility by using it responsibly and protecting it from damage.

He emphasized that preserving the bus stop would ensure that its benefits extend to future generations and continue to serve the traveling public.

Residents Welcome Development Project

Residents of Gbeapo Sweaken and surrounding communities expressed excitement over the project, thanking Brickson for investing in a public facility that directly responds to the needs of commuters and travelers.

Speaking on behalf of the Sweaken – Tartuken communities, Pastor Dedee Dweh described the initiative as an example of giving back to the community.

“Little is much when God is in it. Thank you, Brickson, for giving back to us as a youthful citizen of Nyanawiliken administrative district.

You could choose to spend your little earnings with your families and friends, but you chose to give back to us. We truly appreciate it,” Pastor Dweh said.

Community members said the project demonstrates how individual contributions and locally driven initiatives can help address infrastructure needs in communities where public facilities remain limited.

The dedication of the bus stop which was held on September 27, 2026 marks a practical addition to public infrastructure at Sweaken Tartuken Junction, providing a designated location for passengers and commuters to wait for transportation.

Residents have meanwhile called for the facility to be properly maintained and protected so that it can continue serving the public for many years.

The project also underscores the importance of community participation and private citizens’ contributions to local development, particularly in improving public spaces and transportation facilities across River Gee County.
