The Management of the World Bank has agreed to support Liberia’s Development Agenda through its New Country Program Framework (CPF) in the amount of United States Dollars Four Hundred Ninety Million .The New Country Framework, which would be submitted to the World Bank Board at the end of the month , focuses on support to Energy, ( to increase Liberia’s Energy Access from 33% to 75%, which will help reduce the cost of electricity and increase access to electricity) Education, Agribusiness, Digital Transformation and others.This new funding commitment by the World Bank was disclosed by the World Bank Vice President Ousman Diagana, during a meeting with the Liberian delegation led by Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan.
On the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank Spring Meeting, and as a follow-up meeting to recent engagements in Kuwait, Hon. Ngafuan and the Liberia delegation held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Suadi Fund for Development Mr. Sultant AI Marshad, during which the Fund commited to joining the Kuwaiti and other Arab lenders to provide financing for the Salayea- Voinjama leg of the Gbarnga Mendikorma Road Project.
Menawhile, Liberia’s Finance Minister, Hon Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan was today unanimously elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) on Conditions of Service for Elected Officers of the AfDB from 2025 to 2026. The members of the Standing Committee Gabon, Korea, Ireland, Guinea Bissau and Liberia.
