Gbarnga, Bong County – Liberia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Cornelia Kruah, has apologized to residents of Bong County following her delayed arrival in Gbarnga, after initially informing citizens that she and her delegation would arrive by 2:00 PM.
Speaking upon arrival, at about 9:00 PM, the minister expressed regret on behalf of herself and her team, explaining that the delay resulted from an extended engagement with young people in Lower Margibi. According to her, the visit—originally intended to be brief—became prolonged due to overwhelming participation, with more than 30 youth organizations represented, each presenting petitions and concerns.
She noted that it was the ministry’s first engagement with youth in Lower Margibi, an area that had not previously received as much direct interaction compared to Kakata and Upper Margibi. Given the significance of the meeting and the ministry’s commitment to youth engagement, officials opted not to cut the session short, which consequently affected their schedule for Bong County.
Minister Kruah acknowledged reports that young people in Bong County had been waiting since morning and apologized for the inconvenience caused. She, however, assured residents that the delegation would be in the county for at least two days, providing ample time to engage with local stakeholders and youth groups.
