40 More Muturu Cattle Arrive in Grand Kru as County Receives Second Batch

By Patrick Teah, Jr.

Grand Kru County has received 40 additional Muturu cattle, marking the second batch of livestock delivered to the county through the Ministry of Agriculture.

The latest delivery is expected to increase the number of cattle available for livestock development in Grand Kru and provide additional opportunities for local communities involved in cattle rearing.

Sam F. Larmin, Acting Director and Project Coordinator of the Public Sector Investment Program at the Ministry of Agriculture, said the 40 cattle form part of the government’s livestock initiative aimed at increasing cattle production and providing communities with opportunities to engage in livestock farming.

According to Larmin, the initiative also seeks to provide farmers with technical knowledge needed to properly rear and manage cattle.

The 40 cattle were officially turned over to Alfred F. Ogunti, Grand Kru County Coordinator and the Ministry of Agriculture’s representative in the county.

Local chiefs welcomed the arrival of the second batch and expressed appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the Ministry of Agriculture. They pledged to work with the authorities to ensure that the cattle are protected and properly cared for.

Abraham Sow, Fulani Governor of Grand Kru County, also welcomed the latest delivery and assured the government that the Fulani community is prepared to contribute to the protection and management of the cattle.

Hon. Alphonso N. Teah, speaking on behalf of the County Superintendent, expressed appreciation for the additional livestock. He said county authorities remain committed to working with stakeholders to ensure proper management of the cattle.

With the second batch now delivered, attention is turning to the proper care, breeding, and management of the animals, as authorities hope the livestock population will grow through reproduction and sustained management.
