Monrovia – The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has dismissed recent media reports claiming it has released information on ongoing investigations and asset declarations.
In a statement, the LACC clarified that it has not issued any official communication regarding details of cases under investigation. The commission warned the public against relying on unverified reports circulating on social media and other platforms, labeling such information as “false and misleading.”
The LACC urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation, emphasizing that doing so could compromise ongoing investigations. The statement reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to transparency but noted that it would only provide updates in accordance with the law.
Citing Section 10.9 of the LACC Act of 2022, the commission stressed that it is legally prohibited from disclosing preliminary details or findings of ongoing investigations. “The Commission will provide information to the public only upon indictment by a grand jury,” the statement read.
The LACC acknowledged public interest in its work but assured that all investigations are being conducted thoroughly and without bias.
