In a major step toward improving infrastructure and quality of life in Gibi District, the Political Leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, has partnered with Margibi Senator, Hon. Nathaniel McGill to rehabilitate the deteriorating road corridor from Kakata City to Gibi Town.
The road, long plagued by disrepair, has severely hampered transportation, access to healthcare, education, and economic activities in the region. Residents have described the intervention as a long-overdue relief from years of hardship.
“Our women have been greatly impacted by the condition of this road. It’s extremely difficult for ambulances to reach us,” said Esther Foley, Women’s Chairlady of Yarwuellie Town. “The only fast means of transportation is a motorcycle, which often results in accidents or people ending up in the creeks along the road.”
A pre-assessment tour of the road project was held on Friday, May 23, 2025, drawing hundreds of residents. The event received strong support from the youth and student communities, many of whom expressed gratitude to Hon. Bility for his ongoing development efforts across the country. During the gathering, local students called on him to help establish a Senior High School in the district.
Currently, the area only has a Junior High School, forcing students to travel to Kakata City for further education. In response, Hon. Bility pledged to construct a Senior High School to serve the district and ease the burden on students and families.
Final assessments for both the road rehabilitation and school construction projects are expected to begin by the end of May 2025.
