Fish Town, River Gee County — Citizens of River Gee County are making a passionate appeal to the Government of Liberia, raising serious concerns about the lack of mobility for both the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in the county.
According to residents, the absence of functional vehicles and motorcycles is severely hindering the ability of security officers—especially those stationed outside of Fish Town City—to respond swiftly to emergencies, conduct patrols, and enforce the law effectively.
Community members report that in many cases, they are forced to personally transport police officers and LDEA agents in order to make arrests or address security issues in their communities. This, they say, places an undue burden on ordinary citizens and undermines public safety efforts.
“We are often left to hire motorbikes or pick-up officers ourselves when there’s a problem,” one concerned resident lamented. “This is not how security should work.”
The citizens are calling on the national government and relevant authorities to urgently intervene by providing vehicles and motorcycles to enhance the operational capacity of law enforcement agencies in River Gee. They believe that equipping local police and drug enforcement units with reliable means of transportation will significantly improve the overall security situation in the county.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the Ministry of Justice or national security authorities regarding this concern.
