Grand Bassa University is set to restore electricity on campus following the recent explosion of its main generator, which left the university in total darkness.
Interim President Dr. Samuel B. Reeves Jr. announced on Monday, June 16, 2025, that through the swift support of the Bassa Legislative Caucus and the Office of the Superintendent, the university has acquired a new 150 KVA generator. This generator is capable of producing substantial power to meet the campus’s electricity needs and jumpstart normal operations.
The generator is currently safely stored, but transporting it onto campus remains a challenge. To overcome this, work is underway to reinforce the wooden pathway bridge leading to the university to ensure it can handle the heavy load.
Dr. Reeves expressed deep gratitude, stating, “We want to appreciate our Caucus and the Superintendent for speedily helping to save the University.”
The university remains hopeful that once the generator is installed, power will be restored promptly. However, Dr. Reeves did not reveal the cost of the generator during his live interview on the University’s Facebook page.
Ablee-Jay Media is actively working to ascertain the exact cost of the acquired machine and looks forward to hearing from the University Administration soon.
