Latest Autopsy Report Contradicts Initial Findings in Big-boy Flomo’s Death; Renews Calls for Justice

Gbarnga, Bong County – Rockefeller F. Cooper II, a medical legal death investigator based in the U.S., has presented a dissenting view on the previous autopsy report of Big-boy Flomo, disputing the conclusions of the initial autopsy report regarding Flomo’s death. The initial autopsy, conducted in 2021 by Liberian pathologists Dr. Benedict Kolee and Dr. Zoeborn Kparteh, determined that Flomo succumbed to high-velocity blunt force trauma consistent with being struck by a moving train.

In an independent forensic examination at the St. Kennedy Funeral Parlor in Gbarnga on July 25, 2025, Cooper announced findings that contradict the earlier report. “After examining and documenting externally and internally, I can say, without doubt, that Bigboy Flomo did not die as a result of being struck by a moving train,” he stated to reporters.

Investigator Cooper emphasized his expertise in train-related fatalities, noting a lack of typical injuries associated with such incidents on Flomo’s body. The sole visible injury identified by Cooper was a fracture to the humerus— the upper arm bone.

The expert declared the original autopsy report inaccurate, although he plans to review the complete reports filed by Dr. Kolee and Dr. Kparteh before reaching final conclusions. His investigation was commissioned by the Foundation for International Dignity (FIND), a human rights organization based in Gbarnga, which is represented by its executive director, Aaron Juaquellie.

Also speaking shortly after Cooper’s report, the FIND’s Executive Director praised the findings and called for a comprehensive reinvestigation into the circumstances surrounding Flomo’s death.

For her part, Cecelia Sackie, Flomo’s fiancée, expressed her dissatisfaction over the handling of the case and demanded justice for her late partner.

Bigboy Flomo was discovered unconscious along the ArcelorMittal Liberia railway near Morris Davis Town in the Rock Crusher Community on November 24, 2021, following a report of a train accident. However, in a subsequent review, ArcelorMittal Liberia confirmed that none of its trains were linked to an incident at that time. As it stands, Dr. Cooper’s recent investigative findings may intensify calls for justice and transparency in this contentious case.
