MONROVIA, August 7, 2025 – Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, accompanied by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, and several high-ranking government officials, gathered at the Ceremonial Garden near the Presidential Palace to honor victims of the recent military helicopter crash.
In a solemn and emotional tribute, the dignitaries placed floral wreaths and lit candles in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident, which claimed the lives of several senior officials and security personnel.
President Mahama expressed his sorrow, describing the event as “a national tragedy that has left a deep scar on the heart of the nation.” He called for unity and strength among Ghanaians during this time of mourning and pledged full support to the families of the deceased.
“We stand together as one people to honor the service and sacrifice of our fallen compatriots. May their souls rest in peace,” the President said during the brief ceremony.
Messages of sympathy have continued to pour in from around the region, including from Liberia, where government officials and citizens extended their heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Ghana.
The official funeral arrangements for the victims are expected to be announced in the coming days.
