Margibi Finally Lands Key Appointment In Boakai Administration

Monrovia, Liberia – After months of anticipation and growing frustration from residents of Margibi County, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has nominated a prominent Margibian to a significant government position, sparking widespread praise and renewed enthusiasm among supporters of the ruling Unity Party in the county.

Mr. John Z. Buway, Sr., a staunch member of the Unity Party and respected political figure, has been nominated as Deputy Managing Director for Administration at the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA). The nomination marks a notable inclusion of a Margibi County native in a high-profile post within the Boakai administration.

Following the announcement, Unity Party supporters and residents of Margibi have flooded social media, particularly Facebook, to express their appreciation to the President. Many described the appointment as long overdue, given Margibi’s significant contribution to the Unity Party’s electoral success in the 2023 presidential elections.

In the 2023 polls, Margibi County delivered the third-highest number of votes for President Boakai, playing a critical role in his hard-fought victory. Despite this, many in the county had voiced concerns over what they perceived as neglect and underrepresentation in the current administration — until now.

A Step Toward Regional Inclusion

Political analysts view Mr. Buway’s nomination as a strategic move by President Boakai to address growing concerns of regional imbalance and to solidify his support base in Margibi County. The move is also seen as a gesture of goodwill toward Unity Party loyalists who have remained patient despite earlier frustrations.

As the Boakai administration continues to fill key posts, many citizens across Liberia are watching closely, hoping for appointments that reflect the country’s diversity and reward loyal service and competence.

Where applicable, these nominations are subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
