KAKATA, Margibi County — Residents of Telecom Community in Kakata City were left in shock early Sunday after three members of the same family were reportedly found unresponsive inside their residence.
The victims have been identified as Nancy Tengbeh, popularly known as Aunty K, a food vendor, and her two sons, Abel Flomo and David Sao.
Information gathered by Verity News indicates that the three were the only occupants who slept in the house overnight.
Police officers reportedly entered the residence after receiving information about the incident and discovered the family members unresponsive. They were subsequently taken to C.H. Rennie Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival, according to information gathered by Verity News.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear, and authorities have yet to officially establish the cause.
Some community members have speculated that exhaustion or fumes from charcoal cooking may have contributed to the incident, claiming that Tengbeh had reportedly been preparing bitterball using a charcoal stove. However, these claims remain unverified, and no confirmed evidence has established a connection between the cooking activity and the deaths.
As of Sunday morning, police had not issued an official statement on the incident.
A visit to the scene by Classic FM reportedly found that the residence had not been cordoned off.
The incident has raised concerns among residents as they await further information from the authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
