Ganta, Nimba County – The newly assigned Commander of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in Nimba County, Buster Jolon, has called on his officers to uphold ethical conduct, discipline, and teamwork as they carry out their duties in the fight against drug-related crimes.
Commander Jolon delivered the message during his first official address to LDEA officers and duty commanders at the agency’s headquarters in Ganta. In his remarks, he stressed that integrity, mutual respect, and unity are essential to achieving success in the ongoing battle against drug abuse and trafficking in the county.
He cautioned his officers against behaviors that could undermine their mission, including dishonesty, hypocrisy, and what he described as “biting and blowing” — a local expression referring to individuals who pretend to be doing good while harboring ill intentions. “Let us not have white teeth and black hearts,” he warned, using another Liberian phrase to emphasize the importance of sincerity.
As part of his new leadership strategy, Commander Jolon announced the introduction of a daily morning devotional routine, aimed at seeking divine guidance and fostering moral responsibility among officers.
He also declared a zero-tolerance stance on internal recycling — the reshuffling of problematic officers — and workplace gossip, which he said could threaten cohesion and erode the agency’s effectiveness.
Commander Jolon’s appointment comes at a time when drug-related crimes continue to pose a significant challenge across Liberia. His message sets a tone of accountability and ethical leadership as he takes charge of LDEA operations in one of the country’s most populous counties.
