The Director General-designate of the National Bureau of Concession (NBC) Hanson S. Kiazolu has outlined a comprehensive strategy focused on rigorous law enforcement, systemic transparency, and a complete digital transformation for the institution, should his nomination be confirmed.
Speaking during his confirmation hearing on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, before the Senate Committee on Concession and Investment, Kiazolu pledged to conduct an “impartial diagnosis” of the NBC’s entire system.
According to him, this in-depth review would identify the institution’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, with the findings directly informing future decisions for “proactive engagement… for desired results.”
Kiazolu, a seasoned financial expert and a former Representative of Montserrado County District #17, underscored the NBC’s crucial role in managing the country’s natural resources.
He, among other things asserted that his leadership will champion transparency in all concession agreements.
“Upon confirmation, my leadership will enforce all existing concession laws for the benefit of all parties, aiming to strengthen legislation and ensure equitable outcomes,” he noted.
The NBC DG-designate noted that one of the cornerstones of his leadership will be the full digitalization of the National Bureau of Concession.
He described this initiative as “pivotal to the success of the entity’s role in building a vibrant economy,” emphasizing that it would ensure easy and transparent information sharing about concession agreements.
He further elaborated that the digitalization process would involve engaging strategic partners to create platforms that provide citizens and other stakeholders’ direct access to concession agreements.
Kiazolu stressed that this digital transformation would foster “concession transparency and accountability,” enabling lawmakers to have a direct understanding of concessionaires operating within their respective districts and counties.
In addition to technological upgrades, the NBC Director General-designate promised the introduction of an annual score-card.
This tool, he noted, would be utilized to “visualize data, track performance, and make informed decisions through real time” insights, further enhancing the Bureau’s operational effectiveness and accountability.
Kiazolu’s detailed proposals signal a strong commitment to modernizing the NBC, ensuring better oversight of Liberia’s valuable concessions, and promoting greater public trust and economic benefit through enhanced transparency and efficiency.
