President Boakai Leaves for Morocco to Address 17th MEDays Forum-Receives Prestigious Grand Prix MEDays Award

Monrovia, Liberia – November 24, 2025:

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. departed Liberia on Monday evening to attend the 17th MEDays Forum, scheduled for November 26–29 in Tangier, Morocco.

The Liberian leader is traveling at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, under whose High Patronage the globally acclaimed MEDays Forum is hosted. Launched in 2008, the Forum has grown into one of the world’s leading platforms for geopolitical, economic, and development debates, widely recognized as “the Southern Forum” for its focus on the aspirations and challenges of the Global South.

President Boakai is expected to deliver a major address on the opening day, becoming the first of five Heads of State and Government slated to speak at this year’s event.

Following his speech, the President will be honored with the Grand Prix MEDays, the Forum’s highest distinction. The award recognizes his leadership in strengthening democratic governance, advancing national renewal and institutional reform, promoting peace and stability, and repositioning Liberia as a credible and forward-looking nation on the global stage.

The 2025 edition of the MEDays Forum is being held under the theme: “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation.” Discussions will center on redefining global cooperation in the face of rising geopolitical tensions, shifting alliances, and mounting pressure on multilateral institutions.

Throughout the Forum, President Boakai will engage with fellow world leaders, international policymakers, Nobel Laureates, business executives, and global influencers. Organizers expect more than 300 speakers and over 7,000 participants from more than 100 countries.

Liberia’s participation, according to Executive Mansion officials, highlights the country’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to global problem-solving and sustainable development.

The President is accompanied by a small delegation of senior government officials. In his absence, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Samuel A. Stevquoah, will chair Cabinet activities.

President Boakai is expected to return to the country on November 28.
