Harbel, Margibi County — The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) has officially dedicated the Bravo Taxi Lane, commonly known as the B-Line, at Roberts International Airport (RIA), restoring a key component of aircraft ground operations after nearly two years of closure.
The dedication ceremony was held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at RIA, marking the reopening of one of the airport’s three main taxi lanes. The Bravo Taxi Lane plays a critical role in guiding aircraft safely between the runway and the terminal apron.
Speaking at the ceremony, RIA Airport Manager James Mulbah said the taxi lane was previously shut down due to extensive structural damage that posed serious safety risks to aircraft movement.
“The Bravo Taxi Lane is extremely important to the smooth and safe operation of Roberts International Airport,” Mulbah said. “Its closure placed additional pressure on the remaining taxi lanes, especially during peak travel periods, leading at times to congestion and delays. With this dedication, we are restoring full operational capacity.”
Mulbah explained that the rehabilitation of the taxi lane reflects the Liberia Airport Authority’s commitment to meeting international aviation standards and ensuring the safety of passengers, flight crews, and airport personnel. He noted that the reopening will improve aircraft ground movement and significantly reduce turnaround time for both domestic and international flights.
The Airport Manager also praised the current leadership of the Liberia Airport Authority, headed by Managing Director Ernest R. Hughes, along with Deputy Managing Director for Administration John Z. Buway.
“In just a little over two months since their appointment by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the new management has brought about tremendous positive change at the airport,” Mulbah said.
Airport officials and stakeholders present at the event described the reopening as a major step toward strengthening Liberia’s aviation sector. They emphasized that improved airport infrastructure is essential to attracting more airlines and enhancing the country’s position in regional and international air travel.
Officials also commended the engineers, technicians, and other personnel whose efforts contributed to the successful rehabilitation of the Bravo Taxi Lane.
The reopening of the B-Line is expected to enhance operational efficiency at Liberia’s main international gateway, reinforcing Roberts International Airport’s role as a vital hub for travel, trade, and economic development.
