Armed Forces of Liberia Opens Nationwide Army Recruitment for 2026 Intake

The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has officially announced the launch of a nationwide recruitment exercise aimed at enrolling qualified Liberians into the Liberian Army, beginning in early January 2026.

The recruitment initiative forms part of the AFL’s broader strategy to strengthen national defense, enhance military professionalism, and provide structured employment opportunities for young Liberians seeking to serve their country.

Military authorities say the exercise will be conducted across all regions of Liberia to ensure equal access and broad participation by eligible citizens, regardless of geographic location.

According to the AFL, the recruitment drive is open to Liberian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 who meet the required academic, physical, and moral standards set by the institution.

Applicants must be high school or college graduates and are required to present valid WAEC or WASSCE certificates, a move aimed at improving literacy, discipline, and technical capacity within the armed forces.

In addition to academic qualifications, applicants must be physically and mentally fit and must have no criminal record, as integrity and discipline remain core values of the Liberian military.

The AFL has outlined clear documentation requirements for applicants. Each applicant must present at least one valid form of identification, including a National Identification Card, Voter ID Card, Birth Certificate, Liberian Passport, or Certificate of Naturalization.

Additional documents required include two recent passport-size photographs with a white background, a health certificate issued within the last three months, and any other academic or professional certificates that may strengthen an applicant’s profile.

To facilitate smooth participation, the AFL has established recruitment centers across the country, grouped by regional zones.

In the Central Region, recruitment will take place in Montserrado County, with Monrovia serving as the main recruitment center, as well as in Grand Bassa and Margibi counties.

For Western Region II, applicants can register in Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, and Bomi County, with Tubmanburg designated as the primary recruitment center.

The Northern Region will host recruitment activities in Lofa, Nimba, and Bong counties, with Gbarnga serving as the central recruitment location.

In the Southeastern Region, recruitment centers have been established in Grand Gedeh (Zwedru), Maryland (Harper), River Gee, Grand Kru, River Cess, and Sinoe counties to ensure accessibility for applicants in the region.

AFL officials have encouraged interested applicants to begin preparing their documents early and to remain alert for further announcements regarding specific dates and procedures.

They emphasized that only information released through official AFL communication platforms should be considered credible, cautioning the public against misinformation.

The recruitment exercise is expected to attract thousands of young Liberians eager to contribute to national security while gaining professional training, discipline, and career development.

The AFL reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, and merit-based selection throughout the recruitment process.

“Serve with Honor. Serve with Pride. Join the Armed Forces of Liberia,” the announcement concluded.
