The mother of a 15-year-old boy, who was allegedly sodomized by a senior National Security Agency (NSA) agent Peter Bonn Jallah and two accomplices, has accused the lead prosecutor overseeing the case of psychological intimidation, bias, and harassment.
The victim’s mother is now calling on President Joseph N. Boakai and First Lady Kartumu Boakai to intervene, fearing a “fishy” plot to exonerate the perpetrators. She is demanding an independent judge to take over the proceedings, stating her son is too terrified to speak in the presence of the current official.
At the heart of the controversy is Cllr. Isaac L. George, the Director of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) at the Ministry of Justice. While Cllr. George has dismissed the allegations as “false and misleading,” the victim’s mother paints a picture of a hostile environment with her son, who is currently hospitalized and wearing diapers due to the severity of his injuries, is being re-traumatized by the very people meant to protect him.
“My son is not comfortable with the judge,” the mother told reporters in a tear-filled testimony. “Whenever [Cllr. George] is around, the boy does not want to talk. He will be talking different things… but when he is talking to other people, he explains exactly what happened.”
The mother recounted a chilling exchange following the arrest of Peter Bon Jallah, the former NSA agent linked to the crime. She alleges that instead of offering protection, the official pressured the boy with a ultimatum that suggested the perpetrator’s career was more valuable than the child’s justice.
“He told the boy: ‘If you don’t want to show the building the incident occurred, it means the man will walk outside from prison… the man has lost his job.’ He was arguing with a child about whether the building was ‘uncompleted’ or ‘well-furnished,'” the mother claimed.
When she confronted investigators about this behavior, she was reportedly told the official was “frustrated by public pressure.”
The physical state of the 15-year-old victim remains dire. His mother reminded the public that her first-born child is currently undergoing medical treatment for injuries so severe he has lost bowel control.
“I am calling on President Joseph N. Boakai and his wife. She is a mother like me. Let her feel my pain,” she pleaded. “My son is wearing pampers. Those investigators are not feeling my pain. Something tells me they want to do something fishy because of the way they are acting.”
The family was allegedly told that Cllr. George is the only person who can handle the case, a claim the mother rejects as she seeks a neutral legal environment where her son can testify without fear.
When contacted for a response regarding these serious allegations of misconduct and intimidation, Cllr. Isaac L. George denied the claims entirely, labeling the mother’s account as false and misleading.
