Liberian Chevening Scholar Earns MSc from University of Sussex, Calls for Support to Expand Youth Empowerment

A Liberian youth development advocate has graduated from the University of Sussex in England with a Master of Science degree in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, earned under the prestigious UK Government Chevening Scholarship.

Graduating with humility and gratitude, the scholar described the achievement as a recognition of years of service in youth empowerment and community development across Liberia.

That work, carried out through YONER Liberia, has directly impacted more than 100,000 people, including adolescent girls and young women, high school and university students, smallholder farmers, and young agripreneurs.

The Chevening Scholarship is awarded to individuals with demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to driving positive change in their home countries.

In this case, the award acknowledged sustained efforts to equip young Liberians with skills for education, employability, and entrepreneurship in a post-war context.

Building on this milestone, the graduate is appealing to the public to support the next phase of YONER Liberia’s mission through small but meaningful donations.

Contributions of £1, US$1, or LRD 500 are being solicited via the organization’s Fundraizer platform to help expand its operations and programs.

Funds raised will support the completion of YONER Liberia’s office expansion into a mini Youth Impact Innovation Hub and the relaunch of three self-sustaining flagship programs aimed at reaching even more young people nationwide.

Donors will be publicly recognized on YONER Liberia’s website or social media platforms, and their names will also be displayed at the organization’s office.

Founded in 2008, YONER Liberia is a youth-led social impact organization focused on transforming lives through education, digital skills, leadership development, and agribusiness training.

Its mission is to empower young women and men with the tools, networks, and opportunities needed to break cycles of poverty and achieve economic self-reliance.

As the organization looks to the future, the call is clear: collective action, even through modest contributions, can help Liberia’s youth and young women move from poverty to opportunity and sustainable livelihoods.
