Another Truck Falls Off Damaged Geebeor Bridge, One Person Still Trapped Beneath

GEEBEOR, Rivercess County | August 3, 2026 — Less than two weeks after a fatal accident claimed the life of a man when a truck loaded with planks break into the damaged Geebeor log bridge, similar tragedy has occurred on the Grand Bassa–Rivercess Highway.

A truck transporting planks reportedly fell off the deteriorating log bridge into the water on Monday, August 3, 2026, leaving one man trapped beneath the overturned vehicle.

Rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities and community members work tirelessly to remove the truck and recover the victim, who is believed to be stuck underneath the vehicle.

It remains unclear whether the man is alive or not.

The latest incident has renewed public concern over the deplorable condition of the Geebeor bridge, as well as another damaged bridge in Saturday Town.

Residents and road users are calling on the Government of Liberia and relevant authorities to urgently rehabilitate both bridges to prevent further loss of life and ensure the safe movement of people and goods along the highway.
