Buchanan, Grand Bassa – The Incident Management System (IMS) on the National Mpox Response has wrapped up a ten-day Joint Coordination Monitoring and Supportive Supervision Mission in Grand Bassa County, aimed at strengthening the region’s response to the ongoing Mpox outbreak.
The mission, which ran from January 14 to January 23, 2026, was led by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in collaboration with the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), with technical and logistical support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
During the mission, the joint team assessed response coordination at both county and district levels, reviewed the performance of the County Incident Management System, and provided technical support to county and district health teams. Efforts were also focused on improving case management and enhancing community awareness and engagement to curb the spread of Mpox.
Officials reported that while significant progress has been made in the county’s Mpox response, the mission also highlighted key gaps and areas requiring further improvement.
The MOH and NPHIL emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with local health authorities and community stakeholders to ensure sustained preparedness and effective management of Mpox cases across Grand Bassa County.
