Monrovia — The National Port Authority (NPA) has launched a US$1 million fundraising initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and learning conditions at the University of Liberia (UL), the country’s premier public university.
The program, led by NPA Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly, is themed “Coming Together to Revitalize UL.” It seeks to provide 30,000 armchairs for students, renovate classrooms, and rehabilitate bathroom facilities at the University of Liberia’s Capitol Hill campus.
According to the NPA, the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to education and national development, recognizing the critical role the University of Liberia plays in training the nation’s future leaders and professionals.
The official fundraising event is scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, at 10am., and will take place at the UL Capitol Hill Campus Auditorium. Government institutions, private sector partners, development organizations, alumni, and members of the general public are expected to attend and contribute.
Speaking on the initiative, Managing Director Dukuly said the NPA is calling on all stakeholders to support efforts to improve learning conditions at the university, noting that a revitalized UL is essential to Liberia’s long-term growth and development.
The NPA has urged the public to rally behind the cause, describing the fundraiser as a national effort to strengthen higher education and invest in the future of Liberia’s youth.
