Kploh Chiefdom, Rivercess County — The Ruth Coker-Collins Development Foundation (RCCDF) has successfully completed a three-day training program for 275 women across Kploh Chiefdom, aimed at strengthening women’s economic empowerment through the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) initiative.
The beneficiaries were drawn from three communities, including Zammie Town with 106 women, Sand Beach with 91, and Gborwuzohn with 75 participants. The training focused on building financial management skills, promoting savings culture, and encouraging collective economic growth among rural women.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, former Minister of Public Works and Chief Executive Officer of RCCDF, Madam Ruth Coker-Collins, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to reaching underserved communities, especially rural women and healthcare providers who often lack access to financial opportunities.
Madam Coker-Collins urged the women of Kploh to make full use of the VSLA program to improve their livelihoods and support their families. She noted that women’s involvement in savings and loan initiatives can significantly help their partners and households in meeting daily challenges.
She acknowledged that starting any new venture is often difficult but described the commitment and determination displayed by the women of Kploh as exceptional. According to her, such dedication is a strong foundation for sustainable community development.
Concluding her remarks, Madam Coker-Collins encouraged the women to remain united and continue working together to make their Village Savings and Loan Associations stronger and more effective for the benefit of their communities.
