Officials and staff of the Ministry of National Defense, the High Command, and the men and women of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) on Sunday gathered in worship as part of activities marking the 69th Armed Forces Day.
The thanksgiving service, held on February 8, 2026, is currently ongoing at Abundant Life Church in Harbel City, Lower Margibi County.
The service brought together senior defense officials, military personnel, and their families in a moment of reflection, prayer, and gratitude.
Organizers said the worship service is intended to thank God for peace, protection, and the continued service of the AFL to the nation.
Abundant Life Church is led by Bishop Varnie Saah Yarwoo, who welcomed the defense community and prayed for national unity and stability.
In brief remarks, Bishop Yarwoo emphasized the importance of faith, discipline, and service in the professional life of the military.
The gathering forms part of a series of events commemorating nearly seven decades of the AFL’s existence.
Founded in 1957, the Armed Forces of Liberia have played a central role in national defense and post-conflict peacebuilding.
This year’s celebration is being observed under the theme “Armed Forces of Liberia: A Force for Good.”
Armed Forces Day activities are expected to continue with additional commemorative events across the country.
