Bility Announces 2029 Bid for Montserrado District #4, Promises “Tangible Transformation”

Monrovia — Liberian entrepreneur Lyee K. Bility has officially declared his intention to contest the Montserrado County District #4 Representative seat in the 2029 legislative elections, pledging what he calls “tangible transformation” and a new era of accountable leadership.

Speaking on the Truth Breakfast Show, Bility said his decision to re-enter the race is driven by persistent challenges facing the district, including weaknesses in the education system, limited vocational training opportunities, and growing youth unemployment. He argued that residents have not experienced the level of development and representation they deserve.

According to Bility, his platform will focus on closing development gaps, expanding skills-training programs, and creating economic opportunities for young people. He disclosed that his candidacy will be advanced under the banner of the Citizens Movement for Change, which he described as a political movement committed to transparency, measurable impact, and grassroots engagement.

In a direct challenge to the incumbent, Representative Malchel Thomas, Bility alleged that the district has suffered from what he termed inadequate engagement and limited visible progress. He questioned the frequency of district-level reporting and the depth of community outreach, suggesting that constituents have been left disconnected from their elected leadership.

“District #4 deserves active, present, and accountable representation,” Bility asserted, urging voters to assess lawmakers based on performance rather than promises.

The aspiring lawmaker highlighted his involvement in youth-centered and community initiatives as evidence of his readiness to serve. He vowed that, if elected, he would prioritize practical development programs and ensure that the district’s concerns are forcefully represented at the national level.

Beyond the district race, Bility also criticized the Boakai-Koung Administration over what he described as inconsistencies in enforcing the rule of law, particularly regarding suspended public officials facing corruption allegations. He argued that delays in prosecution risk weakening public confidence in the government’s anti-corruption agenda. However, he acknowledged that some officials within both the Executive and Legislative branches have demonstrated integrity and commitment to public service.

With political activities gradually intensifying ahead of 2029, Bility’s renewed declaration sets the stage for what observers anticipate could be a competitive contest for the District #4 seat in Montserrado County.
