PDOV Warns of Imminent Water Shortages in Voinjama City, Lofa County

By Morlu F. Freeman Sr

Voinjama City, Lofa County – The humanitarian group Peace and Development Outreach Volunteers (PDOV) has raised alarms over an impending water crisis in Voinjama City, warning that residents could face shortages if immediate interventions are not made.

According to PDOV management, the organization is struggling to supply water following the withdrawal of support from international partners. “The partners that were supporting our water program are no longer able to continue,” PDOV spokesperson Mr. Joseph S. Nyuma said.

He explained that the closure of the USAID program, triggered by a U.S. government transition under President Donald Trump, has left PDOV without critical funding and technical assistance for water supply initiatives in the city.

Since the cessation of external support, Mr. Nyuma noted, no NGOs, local county authorities, or the Liberian government have stepped in to assist. “We are facing serious difficulties, and we are calling on citizens to support our efforts so we can continue providing water to the people,” he said.

PDOV warned that without urgent support from Lofa County authorities or the government, Voinjama City could experience complete water outages in the near future.

The organization urged community members and local stakeholders to take initiative and collaborate to prevent a looming public health and service crisis.
