The 71-member assembly of Burkina Faso has voted unanimously to reinstate capital punishment, state-run media reported.
The revised penal code allows the death penalty for serious crimes, including importing expired or banned products that cause death, terrorism, espionage, and treason.
All 71 members of the assembly backed the legislation, which Justice Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala presented on behalf of the government, according to a ministry statement.
