A longtime and award-winning broadcaster, journalist Varflay Kamara, has finally resigned from the State Broadcaster, Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS).
Varflay, who exited the popular Super Morning Show as its lead host a week ago, had previously alarmed over internal wranglings and managerial rigmaroles.
Speaking to Verity, Varflay said, “Yes, I have resigned. I am now farewell to my newsroom staff.”
“While it is emotional to leave an institution I deeply love and care about, I am proud to have concluded my service in the same newsroom I stepped into on May 8, 2017 as a Reporter and Newscaster. That progression truly gladdens my heart.”
There have been multiple reports and complaints of a toxic working environment at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS). Some staff have accused Director General Eugene L. Fahngon of being, “hostile and dictatorial.”
More details to follow.
