Residents of Barclayville City in Grand Kru County are raising serious concerns about the welfare of a seven-year-old boy who has reportedly been living on the streets for the past four months following an alleged dispute with his mother.
The child, identified as Destiny Doe of Camp 3, told this platform on March 13, 2026, that he has been sleeping on various porches across the city and surviving mainly on leftover food provided by sympathetic residents.
According to Destiny, the situation began when an unknown individual allegedly took his mother’s red bowl from their home. Although he denied any involvement, the boy said his mother accused him of taking it, beat him, and ordered him to leave the house.
Destiny further claimed that his mother later burned his school uniform, which prevented him from continuing his education. Prior to the incident, he said he attended Thomas K. F. Seedee Elementary School in Kayken, Barclayville, where he was enrolled in the second grade.
The boy also identified his father as Kofi, a Ghanaian national believed to be residing in Maryland County. He noted that his parents are no longer living together.
Several community members who spoke with this platform confirmed seeing the child wandering around Barclayville for months. While some residents have occasionally provided him with food and temporary shelter, they say the support has not been consistent enough to ensure his safety and well-being.
Concerned citizens are now calling on local authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene to safeguard the child and address the situation.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to contact the boy’s mother, who is reportedly still residing in Barclayville, to obtain her response to the allegations.
