Did Jackson Kill His Own Wife?– LNP Probes Toni’s Death

Monrovia, Liberia — The Liberia National Police has launched an investigation into the death of Toni Khumalo Jackson, the South African wife of Liberian economist and political analyst Samuel Jackson.

Jackson, 73, has been officially named a suspect, and police have confirmed that he will face formal proceedings following preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death.

The case drew immediate public attention after Jackson announced his wife’s critical condition via social media. In a Facebook Live video, he appeared visibly distressed, saying: “Aye my country. Two places. Ambulance is down in the garage. Only God can help this woman. I’m just calm. God. We need a miracle. Can’t fly her out until she’s stable.” Hours later, he publicly announced her death, leaving many in shock.

The death prompted the deployment of heavily armed police officers to Jackson’s Monrovia residence on Old Road to secure the scene and gather potential evidence. During the operation, Jackson reportedly confronted officers with defiance, stating: “I am ready to go to jail. Y’all come and take me. I already have my toothbrush in my pocket,” signaling his willingness to cooperate while maintaining composure.

Authorities confirmed that an initial forensic investigation was conducted at the residence. Police spokesman Sam Collins said investigators observed “bruises and lacerations on the body during the examination,” which was carried out in the presence of the South African Ambassador and Jackson’s legal representative.

The preliminary findings prompted Inspector General Gregory Coleman to elevate Jackson from a person of interest to a suspect. Jackson, along with another individual, remains in police custody pending his arraignment scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

The case has drawn wider attention following resurfaced claims of domestic and personal disputes.

Liberian rapper Queen V, whose father was allegedly killed in 1985, publicly referenced Jackson on social media, stating that his confession during a Facebook Live session was “the best thing that happened after 41 years.” She shared photos of her late father, noting that his body had never been recovered, and used Jackson’s public statements as a point of discussion, highlighting growing public interest in accountability and justice in high-profile cases.

Adding further weight to the public discourse, Rufus S. Berry II, a longtime friend of Jackson who has known him for over 30 years, released a detailed statement concerning Toni Jackson’s death. Berry, who met Jackson through the Coalition of Concerned Liberians, an online forum of Liberian professionals, said he felt a “moral obligation to speak the truth” after witnessing multiple incidents of abuse against Toni.

Berry recounted seeing Toni with severe bruising on separate occasions during trips between Liberia and the United States. He said he confronted Jackson directly about the abuse, which Jackson allegedly attempted to justify. Berry expressed deep concern over the escalation of violence, stating, “A man with a demonstrated pattern of brutal violence toward his wife is capable of causing fatal harm. Toni Jackson deserves justice.”

Berry also confirmed he had contacted Police Commissioner Gregory Coleman and offered to provide formal testimony about what he personally witnessed.

While police investigations continue, the official cause of Toni Jackson’s death has not been released. Authorities are conducting forensic, evidentiary, and legal procedures to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

The case has ignited nationwide discussions in Liberia regarding domestic safety, accountability, and social media transparency. The death of Toni Jackson and the ongoing investigation into her husband, Samuel Jackson, have prompted public calls for justice and a thorough legal review to ensure the facts are fully uncovered.
