Family Raises Alarm Over Safety of Ex-Freeport FC Defender Musa Kromah in Alleged Passport Fraud Case

Family members of former Freeport FC left-back Musa Kromah have expressed growing concern for his safety amid alleged threats linked to a suspected passport trafficking operation.

Speaking anonymously, a source close to the situation said the issue began after Kromah reportedly alerted the United States Embassy in Monrovia about an individual allegedly involved in the illegal sale of U.S. passports. The suspect is believed to be a U.S. citizen with alleged ties to the scheme.

According to the source, “Shortly after the report was made to the embassy, Musa started receiving threats from unknown individuals believed to be connected to the complaint.”

Fearing for his life, Kromah is said to have gone into hiding at an undisclosed location. Family members claim the situation has created widespread fear among relatives and close associates, some of whom report being harassed by unidentified individuals searching for him.

“We are worried about his safety. People have been asking about him and even disturbing family members,” one relative said.

The matter has reportedly been brought to the attention of the Liberia National Police, although authorities have yet to issue an official statement. It remains unclear whether a formal investigation has been launched into the alleged passport trafficking or the reported threats.

When reached for comment, Kromah confirmed that safety concerns influenced his decision to leave Liberia.

He recounted a disturbing incident on July 26, 2023, at the 72nd Junction, where he claims an unidentified vehicle struck and pursued him while he was driving home from football practice.

“That incident made me more concerned about my safety,” Kromah said, adding that the fears expressed by his family are tied to experiences he had before leaving the country.

He further stated that the situation escalated after he reported what he described as the unlawful sale of U.S. passports in Monrovia by a man believed to be a U.S. citizen currently residing in the United States.

Family members are now urging national security agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure Kromah’s protection.
