Superintendents Visit Lofa Over Border Concerns

By Myean D. Torgbean

Monrovia, Liberia — A high-level delegation from the Superintendent Council of Liberia is en route to Foya District in Lofa County amid growing concerns over activities along the Solumbah border.

The delegation is led by Nimba County Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono, who currently chairs the council.

The visit aims to engage Lofa County Superintendent J. Lavelah Massaquoi and obtain firsthand insight into the situation on the ground.

Also accompanying the delegation are Grand Bassa County Superintendent Karyou Johnson and Bong County Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris.

Speaking ahead of the trip, Superintendent Gono said the team will travel to the Solumbah border, one of the areas of concern in Foya District-to better understand recent developments and assess the situation directly.

Officials described the visit as primarily a courtesy engagement, but noted that it also reflects the council’s growing interest in addressing emerging local governance and territorial issues through direct consultation and collaboration among county leaders.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the expected outcome of the mission.
