Quincy FC Clinch Championship Spot with Narrow Victory Over Thunder FC

By Emmanuel M. Kangar, Jr.

Margibi County — Quincy FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Thunder FC on Sunday, May 3, to clinch the championship and advance to the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Third Division playoffs under the Margibi Sub-Association.

The decisive second-leg encounter took place at the Unification Town Sports Pitch in Unification City, drawing a lively crowd of supporters from both sides. After a tense first half that saw both teams struggle to break the deadlock, it was 17-year-old striker Bill Harris who emerged as the hero for Quincy FC.

Harris found the back of the net in the second half, calmly slotting home the only goal of the match to seal victory for his side. His performance not only secured the championship but also highlighted his growing reputation as one of the most promising young talents in local football.

The result followed a closely contested first leg played at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, where both teams settled for a 1-1 draw. With the aggregate scoreline favoring Quincy FC 2-1, the Unification City outfit demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline to overcome their rivals across the two legs.

Sunday’s victory means Quincy FC will now represent Margibi County in the upcoming LFA Third Division playoffs, where they will compete against other regional champions for promotion opportunities.

Football analysts and pundits have already begun singling out Bill Harris as a player to watch in Liberia’s football scene.

Despite his young age, his composure, speed, and eye for goal have drawn praise, with many predicting a bright future ahead if his development continues on its current path.

For Quincy FC, the triumph marks a significant milestone and a testament to the team’s determination throughout the campaign.
