Former District #10 Representative candidate and former Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Karishma P. H. Pelham-Raad, has officially announced that she will not contest the upcoming District #10 by-election in Montserrado County.
In a public statement addressed to residents of the district, Pelham-Raad expressed gratitude to supporters and community members for what she described as their “love, trust, and support” throughout her political journey.
She explained that after “careful reflection and consideration” of her national and international obligations, she has decided to remain focused on diplomacy and international service, which she described as her long-term professional path.
“At this stage, I do not intend to depart from this professional journey as a diplomat serving Liberia and representing our nation on regional and global platforms,” she stated.
Pelham-Raad, who previously served as Assistant Minister at Liberia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that although she will not seek elected office at this time, her commitment to the people of District #10 remains strong.
“Public service is not only about elected office; it is also about impact, service, and standing with people in meaningful ways,” she added, promising to continue supporting residents and communities in the district whenever possible.
Her announcement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the anticipated by-election in Montserrado County’s District #10, a constituency expected to attract significant political attention.
The former candidate also used the occasion to call for peace and political tolerance during the electoral process. She urged citizens to uphold unity and mutual respect while participating in the democratic exercise.
“May the people of District #10 elect a capable, visionary, and people-centered leader who will genuinely serve the interests and development of the district,” she said.
Pelham-Raad concluded her statement by thanking supporters for their prayers and confidence in her leadership over the years, while extending blessings to the people of District #10, Montserrado County, and Liberia as a whole.
