Prominent Unity Party partisan Charles Robert, popularly known as “The Lone Soldier,” has sharply criticized the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), describing it as the country’s “worst government agency” over what he termed poor electricity services during the rainy season.
Robert, speaking on the ongoing power situation, accused LEC of failing to provide stable electricity despite increasing public demand for reliable service.
“LEC is the worst government agency; very poorly performing. Even in this rainy season, we can’t understand anything. Off and on all day,” he said.
His comments reflect growing frustrations among residents over frequent power outages and unstable electricity supply in several parts of the country, particularly during heavy rainfall.
Many consumers have recently complained about repeated blackouts, voltage fluctuations, and interruptions that affect businesses and households alike.
LEC has yet to officially respond to Robert’s statement, but the corporation has in recent months attributed some power interruptions to technical challenges, weather conditions, and ongoing maintenance works on parts of the national grid.
The criticism from the outspoken Unity Party supporter has since sparked discussions on social media, with some Liberians backing his remarks while others called for patience as authorities work to improve electricity distribution nationwide.
