Mike Jabateh Calls Kanio Bai Gbala a “Political Hustler”

Former Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Mike B. Jabateh, has strongly criticized political commentator Kanio Bai Gbala, describing him as a “political hustler” who allegedly shifts loyalty from one administration to another for personal survival.

Speaking on Spoon FM, Jabateh accused Gbala of previously working with prominent officials of the former Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)-led government, including former Port Manager Bill Twehway and ex-Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, before becoming supportive of the current Unity Party-led administration.

“Kanio Bai Gbala was a special bodyguard to former Port Manager Bill Twehway. Yesterday, he was also a bodyguard to Samuel Tweah. Today, he has turned into a mouthpiece for our government that he did not support,” Jabateh alleged.

The former MIA official further claimed that Gbala had previously criticized President Joseph Boakai during the campaign period but is now attempting to align himself with the government.

Jabateh maintained that he has remained connected to ordinary citizens and contributed to community engagement, unlike what he described as individuals who “go from office to office” seeking political relevance.

He also argued that his own political influence and grassroots connection outweigh those of Gbala, whom he accused of making media appearances without tangible impact in society.
