FISH-TOWN, River Gee County — Judicial workers in River Gee County have been urged to maintain the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and professionalism as they carry out their responsibilities within Liberia’s justice system.
The call was made during a program marking International Workers’ Day at the 15th Judicial Circuit Court in Fish-Town on May 29.
Speaking at the event, Philip Jah, Assistant Director for Technical Services at the River Gee Vocational and Technical Training Institute and former Assistant Superintendent for Development, stressed the importance of honesty and accountability in the administration of justice.
Jah said judicial workers must remain impartial, transparent, and free from corruption, especially when handling matters that directly affect the lives and rights of citizens.
“The judiciary plays a critical role in society because its decisions impact people’s futures. Those entrusted with administering justice must always act with honesty, fairness, and transparency,” he said.
He encouraged court employees to maintain strong work ethics and professional standards, noting that public trust in the justice system depends largely on the conduct of judicial personnel.
Also speaking, River Gee County Attorney Cllr. Daniel T.K. Dweh called on judicial workers to recommit themselves to ethical conduct and accountability.
According to Dweh, the credibility of the courts rests on the integrity of those who serve within the system. He urged workers to continue promoting justice without fear or favor.
Presiding Judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit Court, His Honor Onsesimu Barwon, highlighted the history and significance of International Workers’ Day and recognized the contributions workers make to national development.
Judge Barwon also called on the National Legislature to consider officially recognizing International Workers’ Day as a public holiday in Liberia.
He praised judicial workers in River Gee County for their dedication and service despite the challenges they face and encouraged them to remain committed to fairness, transparency, and the rule of law.
The program ended with participants renewing their commitment to ethical conduct and professional excellence in the judicial sector.
International Workers’ Day is observed worldwide in recognition of workers’ contributions and the historic labor movements that fought for improved working conditions and labor rights.
