Forty-seven applicants from Grand Kru County have undergone equipment operator testing in Maryland County as preparations continue for the deployment of government-owned yellow machines across the country.
The assessment, conducted on June 1, 2026, forms part of the selection process to identify qualified operators who will manage heavy-duty road construction equipment expected to be assigned to Grand Kru County.
Applicants were evaluated on their ability to safely and effectively operate the machinery. Successful candidates will be considered for employment as operators when the equipment is deployed.
The testing comes as the Government of Liberia moves forward with plans to distribute 285 pieces of road equipment nationwide to support road construction and rehabilitation efforts.
Residents of Grand Kru have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the arrival of the equipment will help improve road conditions and increase connectivity within the county.
Beyond infrastructure development, the program is expected to create employment opportunities for local residents and provide technical skills that can support future development projects.
With the testing phase completed, attention now turns to the final selection of operators and the anticipated deployment of the equipment to Grand Kru and other counties across Liberia.
