ZWEDRU, Grand Gedeh County – The Grand Gedeh County Administration has announced that approximately 16 pieces of earth-moving equipment are expected to arrive in the county on Friday, July 24, 2026, marking what officials describe as a significant milestone in the county’s infrastructure development efforts.
The announcement was made by the Grand Gedeh County Development Officer, Hon. Davidson Barlee, during an exclusive interview on Smile FM’s Sunrise News Magazine on Thursday.
Speaking on the program, Hon. Barlee disclosed that the long-anticipated heavy-duty equipment, which has been the subject of public discussion for several months, is finally expected to reach Grand Gedeh on Friday.
According to him, the equipment will play a crucial role in implementing the county’s development agenda by supporting the rehabilitation and construction of key infrastructure.
He explained that the machines will be deployed to open and rehabilitate farm-to-market roads, improve access to remote communities, reconnect isolated towns, and rehabilitate major roads within Zwedru City and other parts of the county.
Hon. Barlee noted that improving the county’s road network will ease transportation challenges, strengthen agricultural production, boost local trade, and improve residents’ access to healthcare, education, and other essential services.
During the live phone-in segment of the radio program, several callers welcomed the announcement, describing the arrival of the equipment as a long-awaited breakthrough for Grand Gedeh County.
Many residents expressed appreciation to the county administration and the Government of Liberia for fulfilling what they described as a long-standing promise to improve infrastructure in the county.Some residents also announced plans to line the streets on Friday to welcome the convoy of heavy equipment, calling the occasion a historic moment that signals a new chapter in Grand Gedeh’s development.
Residents believe the deployment of the earth moving machines will significantly improve road connectivity, facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce from farming communities to local markets, stimulate economic activities, and accelerate sustainable development throughout Grand Gedeh County.
