MONROVIA – Liberia has emerged as the winner of the Regional Intellectual Property (IP) School Club Competition held on May 29, 2026, at the headquarters of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Liberia was represented by Lomenie Kollie of Maretha International Preparatory High School, who earned the opportunity to compete after winning the National Intellectual Property High School Club Competition organized by the Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO).
The regional competition brought together students from Liberia, Ghana, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia in a showcase of innovation, creativity, intellectual property awareness, and youth empowerment. The event aimed to encourage young Africans to appreciate the role of intellectual property in promoting innovation, business development, culture, and creativity.

LIPO described the victory as a significant milestone for intellectual property education in Liberia and a reflection of the growing impact of the Intellectual Property High School Club Program in schools across the country.
The competition is an initiative of ARIPO, implemented in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea through the WIPO Korea Funds-in-Trust.
The Liberia Intellectual Property Office congratulated Kollie, Maretha International Preparatory High School, participating schools, coaches, organizers, and partner institutions for their commitment to nurturing the next generation of African innovators and entrepreneurs.
Officials said the achievement underscores Liberia’s commitment to promoting innovation, creativity, and knowledge-based development through intellectual property education and youth empowerment.
