The Ministry of Health, through its National AIDS and STI Control Program, has completed the validation and endorsement of a revised Joint Integrated Supportive Supervision (JISS) Tool aimed at improving healthcare services at primary health facilities across Liberia.
The validation meeting brought together health partners, technical experts, and other stakeholders to review and approve the updated tool before its rollout nationwide.
Health officials said the revised supervision tool places greater attention on antenatal care services and the integration of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B interventions within primary healthcare facilities.
The tool is expected to help health workers better monitor patients, follow national treatment guidelines, and improve the quality of care provided at community health facilities.
According to the Ministry of Health, the revised framework will also support efforts to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes by ensuring that essential services are delivered more effectively.
The updated tool comes at a time when global health institutions are encouraging countries to integrate hepatitis B services into maternal and primary healthcare programs.
Officials believe the new framework will strengthen coordination among healthcare providers and improve the delivery of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B services at the facility level.
Participants at the validation meeting reviewed key monitoring indicators and supervision measures intended to improve accountability and service delivery throughout the healthcare system.
Health authorities said the tool will help identify challenges at healthcare facilities and support timely interventions where needed.
Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step toward improving healthcare services and strengthening disease prevention efforts across the country.
The Ministry of Health said the revised supervision tool reflects its ongoing commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services and ensuring that national standards are maintained.
With the validation process completed, the Ministry is expected to begin implementing the tool across the country in the coming months.
