Liberia Medical and Dental Council Shuts Down Three Clinics in Sinkor Over Regulatory Violations

The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has ordered the immediate closure of three private healthcare facilities in Sinkor after determining that they failed to meet the medical and healthcare standards required to operate in the country.

The announcement was made by Deputy Minister for Health Services, Daniel Sando, during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing in Monrovia on Thursday.

According to Deputy Minister Sando, inspections conducted by health authorities uncovered multiple violations of established healthcare regulations and professional standards at the affected facilities.

He said the findings raised serious concerns about the quality of services being provided and the potential risks posed to patients seeking medical care at the institutions.

As a result, the Liberia Medical and Dental Council directed that all operations and medical services at the facilities be suspended with immediate effect.

The closure order will remain in force until the facilities fully comply with the standards and requirements established by the council and other relevant health regulatory authorities.

The affected facilities have been identified as Matadi City Clinic, Dr. Charles Slum Community Clinic, and Good Will Clinic, all located in the Sinkor area of Monrovia.

Health authorities said the action was taken to protect members of the public from receiving healthcare services that do not meet nationally approved standards.

Deputy Minister Sando emphasized that the government has a responsibility to ensure that healthcare institutions operate in accordance with established laws, regulations, and professional guidelines.

He noted that regulatory oversight remains a key component of efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services across Liberia and strengthen public confidence in the health sector.

The Ministry of Health, working through the Liberia Medical and Dental Council and other regulatory bodies, continues to monitor healthcare facilities nationwide to ensure compliance with required standards.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting public health and safety, warning that any medical facility found operating below approved standards will face appropriate regulatory action, including suspension or closure.
