The People’s Power Movement (PPM) has launched its Student and Youth Command at the United Methodist University (UMU), a move the party says is aimed at increasing youth participation in national affairs and strengthening its presence on university campuses.
The launch program, held at UMU, brought together students, youth activists, party officials, and supporters. Speakers at the event stressed the importance of involving young people in discussions and decisions that affect the country’s future.
Addressing the gathering, PPM officials said the new student and youth wing will provide a platform for young people to develop leadership skills, engage in civic activities, and contribute to national development.
They noted that Liberia’s progress depends heavily on the involvement of its youthful population and encouraged students to take an active interest in governance and public affairs.
According to organizers, the Student and Youth Command will lead awareness campaigns, community outreach programs, and discussions on issues affecting students and young people across the country.
Several students welcomed the initiative, saying it would create opportunities for young voices to be heard on matters such as education, employment, governance, and social development.
The event also featured discussions on youth empowerment, leadership, and the role of students in promoting accountability and democratic values.
Party officials urged students to remain focused on their studies while also taking part in activities that contribute to the growth and development of their communities.
They further disclosed plans to establish similar student and youth structures at other colleges and universities as part of efforts to broaden the party’s engagement with young people nationwide.
The launch of the Student and Youth Command at UMU highlights the growing interest of political institutions in engaging Liberia’s youth, who continue to play an increasingly important role in shaping the country’s future.
