“Meanwhile, the subject results of 2,722 candidates from 229 schools have been withheld for further scrutiny. The withheld results may be cancelled and released based on the outcome of the investigations by August 31, 2026,” WAEC said in an official statement.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Ghana has released the provisional results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates.
The release comes amid ongoing investigations into alleged examination malpractices recorded during the examination.
According to WAEC, the subject results of 496 candidates have been cancelled, while the entire results of 105 candidates have also been cancelled following findings linked to examination irregularities.
Meanwhile, WAEC says the subject results of 119 candidates and the entire results of 48 candidates have also been withheld pending further investigations and review.
WAEC continues to urge candidates, schools, teachers, and other stakeholders to uphold examination integrity and adhere strictly to established rules and regulations.
WAEC says a total of 620,243 candidates, comprising 304,415 males and 315,828 females from 20,789 participating schools, entered for the WAEC examination.
