Tubman High Principal Appeals for Two NTA Buses to Support Students

The Principal of William V.S. Tubman High School, James Naplakposo Fallah, has appealed to Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. to allocate two of the government’s 68 National Transit Authority (NTA) buses to the school to ease transportation challenges faced by students and staff.

In an open letter addressed to President Boakai, the National Legislature, the Ministry of Education, and the Liberian public, Fallah argued that Tubman High, Liberia’s largest public secondary school, deserves the buses because of its large enrollment and unique technical and vocational education programs.

He noted that more than 200 students travel daily from communities including Johnsonville, Paynesville, Caldwell, Duala, and Brewerville, often leaving home before dawn and spending significant amounts on transportation to attend classes.

According to the principal, the buses would improve attendance, reduce transportation costs for families, and support educational field trips for students in both the science and arts disciplines. He said the investment would strengthen the school’s technical and vocational training programs while enhancing access to quality education.

Fallah emphasized that the request is not for special treatment but an investment in an institution that has served Liberia for nearly six decades by producing professionals who have contributed to national development.

He urged the government and lawmakers to support the appeal, describing it as a meaningful step toward advancing education and youth empowerment in Liberia.
