Deinuka Breaks Silence on RIA US$19.2 Million Drug Allegations

A former Roberts International Airport (RIA) employee Anthony Deinuka has denied reports linking him to the ongoing investigation into the seizure of an alleged US$19 million drug shipment at the airport, saying he has no connection to the matter.

In a statement released Monday, July 6, 2026, Deinuka said he has never been contacted by law enforcement authorities in relation to the investigation and is not a suspect in the case.

“I wish to state clearly and without hesitation that I am not the subject of any criminal investigation,” Deinuka said. “I have not been arrested, charged, invited, summoned, questioned, or contacted by any law enforcement agency in connection to this matter.”

Deinuka, who previously worked at RIA, explained that he left his position in 2019 and has not held any official responsibility or authority at the airport since then.

He said attempts to link him to the alleged drug shipment because of his former employment at RIA are unfair and without factual basis.

“I maintain no criminal, business, operational, financial, or improper relationship with any person named as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation,” he said.

The former airport employee also addressed public discussions surrounding his association with Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, particularly the use of photographs showing him with the Vice President.

Deinuka said political support or personal association should not be used as evidence of wrongdoing.

“My support for the Vice President, or my appearance in photographs with him, cannot and must not be misrepresented as evidence of criminal conduct or improper association,” he stated.

He described Vice President Koung as a leader whose journey and public service have inspired many Liberians, adding that he remains a supporter of the Vice President.

Deinuka further expressed support for the ongoing investigation and called for due process, saying anyone involved in criminal activity should face the law.

“I welcome and support the Vice President’s call for the rule of law and for the full enforcement of the laws of the land, regardless of who may be involved,” he said.

He cautioned against what he called unfounded accusations and urged media institutions, political actors, and members of the public to avoid spreading claims that could damage individuals’ reputations without evidence.

Deinuka said he remains willing to cooperate with authorities if required and has reserved his legal rights to protect his name and reputation.

The alleged drug seizure at the Roberts International Airport remains under investigation, with authorities yet to announce the outcome of their inquiries.
