The Liberia Giving Month Campaign has officially launched its second edition, setting a target of US$500,000 to support community development projects, civil society organizations and county sports teams across the country.
The campaign, which is being held during Liberia’s Independence Month, is organized by Fundraizer in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
According to the Organizers, the initiative is aimed at encouraging a culture of giving while expanding support for community-based programs.
The launch follows a successful pilot campaign that raised L$1,134,916 for local causes, attracted nearly 2,700 donors from 11 countries, supported 64 verified civil society organizations, and reached more than 957,000 people through online and community engagement.
Fundraizer Chief Executive Officer Marvin Tarawally said the first campaign showed that Liberians are willing to support meaningful causes when the fundraising process is open and accountable.
“The first edition proved that Liberians are ready to give at scale when systems are transparent and accessible. With this second edition, we are aligning giving with Independence Month and setting a national target that challenges all of us to think bigger, act together, and build lasting impact,” Tarawally said.
This year’s campaign is built around three key areas: raising support for county teams participating in the National County Sports Meet, funding community initiatives in sectors such as health, education and livelihoods, and helping registered civil society organizations mobilize resources for their work.
The organizers, among other things noted that the expanded campaign is designed to give more Liberians, both at home and abroad, an opportunity to contribute to projects that directly benefit communities.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports said its partnership with Fundraizer reflects a shared commitment to youth empowerment, community development and national unity through organized public participation.
Organizers are encouraging county teams, civil society organizations and individuals to launch or support fundraising campaigns throughout July as part of this year’s Liberia Giving Month activities.
The campaign seeks to build on the momentum of its inaugural edition and establish charitable giving as a lasting tradition that supports development initiatives across Liberia.
