MONROVIA – A Liberian environmental professional, researcher, and student leader Josiah Varney Sando has earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Water Resources and Environmental Management from Sharda University in India, graduating with distinction and a cumulative GPA of 8.2 out of 10.
Sando previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from African Methodist Episcopal University, along with a Professional Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management and a Professional Certificate in Computer Science.
He has also contributed to environmental research as a co-author of a peer-reviewed study on solid waste management and recycling practices in rural India. His research interests include water resources management, environmental sustainability, sanitation, climate resilience, and public health.
Beyond academics, Sando has served in several leadership positions within the Liberian student community in India, including Secretary General and Superintendent of the Greater Noida Chapter of the Association of Liberian Students in India (ALSI). He is also the Founding Member and Chairman Emeritus of the Liberian International Students Alliance (LIBISA).
Sando says he remains committed to promoting environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and evidence-based policymaking to support Liberia’s environmental sector and national development.
