MONROVIA – Prominent Liberian citizen, former CMC executive, and gender activist Grace R. Guar has called on Liberians to embrace constructive criticism and prioritize national development over partisan politics.
Writing from the United States, Guar said criticism of the Unity Party-led government should be aimed at improving Liberia rather than advancing political interests. She urged citizens to acknowledge positive achievements while holding the government accountable for actions that are unlawful or harmful.
Guar stressed that Liberians should assess the government’s overall performance ahead of the 2029 elections before deciding whether it deserves another term.
She also encouraged citizens to work toward building a Liberia with better roads, healthcare, education, strong institutions, and expanded economic opportunities. Drawing a comparison with neighboring Senegal, Guar said tangible development inspires national pride and should serve as a model for Liberia.
Expressing optimism following a recent meeting in New York City, Guar said she remains hopeful about Liberia’s future and called for unity, constructive dialogue, and collective efforts to build a more prosperous nation.
