MONROVIA, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation into allegations surrounding the Officer-in-Charge of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitzgerald T. M. Biago.
The President’s directive follows Biago’s decision to temporarily recuse himself from his duties amid allegations involving a pickup truck reportedly linked to a suspected narcotics trafficker.
According to the Executive Mansion, President Boakai instructed the Minister of Justice and Attorney General to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations and all related circumstances and submit a detailed report within 48 hours.
President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fighting illegal drugs, organized crime, and corruption, stressing that no individual or institution is above the law.
He further directed that the investigation be guided solely by facts and conducted thoroughly and objectively.
Biago has denied receiving any vehicle, gift, or benefit from a drug trafficker and said his recusal is intended to protect the integrity of the investigation and maintain public confidence in the LDEA.
